In even worse conditions than usual so far this year, Pagham slid, skidded and slithered to a well-deserved 7-0 win over a Worthing United side, who must have wished they had stayed at home long before the end of the game.
Fighting the bitter cold, a higher league team and some ‘questionable’ refereeing decisions’ to say the least, the Lions powered through to the Sussex Senior Cup semi-final with a display of guts, commitment, pride and no little skill.
In a forgettable game at the Sports Park, Peacehaven on Saturday, Pagham were slightly disappointed to have only shared the points against a Peacehaven & Telscombe side, themselves flying high in the league.
Pagham's five star performance ensured the Magpies were again out of luck against the Lions. With other results going their way, the Lions ended the year in 2nd place, closing in on League leaders Haywards Heath town.
