Pagham U21's 2-1 Horsham YMCA U21's
A last gasp Terrell Lewis winner gave The Lions all 3 points on the night Pagham lifted the title.
The young Lions went into the game having already been confirmed as Champions and knowing that the League Title was to be presented after the match.
Pagham didn't look like they were going to sit back and relax however. George Cody, David Crouch and Joe Ashmore all had chances early on.
On 10 minutes, skipper David Crouch hunted down a YMCA centre half and made a tackle on the edge of the opponents 18 yard box, the ball fell to Josh Irish who guided the ball home from 12 yards to give Pagham the lead. 1-0.
Horsham YMCA began to grow into the game and although they didn't threaten the Lions goal very often, they had good territory in the game and were very organised off the ball.
Chances were few and far between in the first half and Pagham went in a goal to the good at half time.
HT - PAGHAM 1-0 Horsham YMCA.
The second half began very much like the first had ended. Pagham having more of the ball but struggling to break down a stubborn YMCA.
The visitors grew in confidence as the match went on and in the 61st minute, substitute Kevin Budge was able to turn on the edge of the box and curl an effort towards the top corner. Despite Lions 'keeper Jordan Matthews making an outstanding stop, the ball hit Harry Hendrick as he was trying to get back and went in his own net. 1-1.
YMCA then had the chance to go ahead. A ball in from the left hand side was controlled by Budge and then hit on the half volley from point blank range but Jordan Matthews was equal to it and managed to acrobatically tip the ball over the bar.
Pagham made changes with Josh Simmonds and Terrell Lewis entering the fray. It seemed to have an impact on the game and Pagham were starting to force the issue once again.
As the clock ticked down, Matt Ryan and Jake Stanley were introduced to try and grab a late winner, and that arrived in the 89th minute when Terrell Lewis hit a first time volley from all of 25 yards straight into the top corner. A sublime strike from the returning Lewis after a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury.
