Lion Cubs take all 6 points from double header
By Tony Shea
Pagham found themselves going into this double header with five withdrawals the night before and although going into both games with only the bare eleven players they did themselves and the club proud coming away with all six points.
Star man was Jack Parkinson who scored four goals in the first game after Toby Lauder had given the Lion’s the lead on ten minutes. Pagham were far the better side in the first encounter with their smooth passing game and not wanting to run out of steam with another game to follow in the hot sunshine. Parkinson was deadly with the chances that fell his way in a twenty minute spell to score his four goals.
Wick had other ideas in the second encounter and pushed forward at every opportunity making the fresh players count but without giving Ward in the Pagham goal any problems. Going in at the break was a great result for the tiring Cubs and a wake up call from manager Jack Millard saw Pagham raise their game once more to take a early second half lead through Parkinson, who then added a second ten minutes later. The second win was sealed on fifty two minutes when winger turned full back Alex Burford ran at the Wick defence to fire home number three. Wick pulled one back as the clock ticked down but it was all to late and a great six points for the young Lions.
