Pagham res 0-0 Sidlesham res.
By Tony Shea
Pagham reserves held to goalless draw at home to Sidlesham.
Pagham Reserves were the quickest into the game and had the first chance of the match when Joe Matthews headed the ball down to Scott Rafferty, who unfortunately got his foot under the ball and blasted over the bar on four minutes. This followed a strong fifteen minute period for the home side, when the closest they came to scoring was a shot from Harry Hendricks which found the side netting.
Sidlesham Reserves were now coming more into their own, raiding down the wings and were unlucky after twenty five minutes hitting the bar and seeing the ball go sailing over the top. Pagham Reserves next chance on goal came on thirty three minutes when a thunderbolt shot from Ollie Chick brought the save of the game from the visiting keeper.
The second half saw Pagham Reserves forcing the play in the opening minutes with a series of corners all dealt with by the visitors bar one, when a chance feel to Charlie Selby whose effort was scrambled away. Sidlesham Reserves were always a danger on the break and the home defence had to be alert at times to contain them.
The Lions next chance came as Harry Hendricks found time and space out wide to send a wicked ball into the box which the wind took onto the bar and over. Pagham Reserves thought they had the game won on thirty minutes when a free kick was floated to the far post and met by Krzysztof Paraficz who’s bullet header flew into the net but the celebrations were short lived as the lineman flagged another player off-side.
The final fifteen minutes were played out and a draw was a fair result on a cold windy afternoon.
